A New Approach for Securing Virtual Environments: The Security Delivery Platform

Virtualization’s here to stay. The key now is to ensure that effective security and traffic monitoring solutions are in place to support both virtualized and physical environments—without draining staff resources or budgets. A good example of the need for this duality is to identify APTs moving laterally within East-West VM traffic and which may not traverse through security appliances on the physical network at the DMZ or the perimeter.

Enter the first Security Delivery Platform (SDP)—which delivers the appropriate network traffic to individual security solutions in a consistent manner across both physical and virtual environments. Read more about the manifold benefits of an SDP approach.

Active Visibility. This blog series looks at critical cyber-security issues that can be mitigated or better managed by adopting new and innovative approaches to traffic visibility and monitoring. The ability to gain complete traffic visibility is essential to directing traffic to security appliances and solutions to optimize their effectiveness. In addition, there are new “best practices” to improve security through traffic monitoring for virtual and cloud infrastructure. This blog series will identify tactical as well as strategic issues around this topic.
