Jeff JohnsonLast week, I had the opportunity, along with Senior SE John Pollack and Senior Sales Director Scott Wichlinski, to represent Gigamon at the 10th annual SharkFest hosted by Riverbed and held at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh. Close to 300 participants from 19 countries filled the Jared L. Cohon University Center building for the four-day event that included two nights of vendor exhibits on June 20 and June 21.
Riverbed users attended a wide variety of breakout sessions during the day and were later served dinner and refreshments in a casual atmosphere while they mingled with vendors, including Gigamon and our ecosystem partners Riverbed and ExtraHop. The room was filled with current Gigamon customers and new logo prospects from healthcare, banking, education, state and local government, technology, defense, services and manufacturing.
Several Gigamon customers, including one major oil company based in Houston, stopped by to talk to us about how they are using Gigamon across their enterprise, including remote platform locations. Other customers talked about their excitement at being included in the Gigamon Customer Advisory Council (CAC) and shared some of the recent discussions between the CAC and the Gigamon leadership team, including their thoughts on the state of the industry, with many commenting on the strategic value Gigamon brings to their infrastructure.
Attendees not yet familiar with Gigamon listened intently and asked questions as the Gigamon team talked about the advantages that the Gigamon Visibility Platform provides by delivering pervasive visibility into all the data-in-motion across an enterprise network. Several were quick to follow up the next day to ask for more information or to request a meeting.
Although each customer use case is unique, both current and potential customers had high interest in visibility into and security of public and private clouds, Inline SSL/TLS Decryption and the GigaSECURE Security Delivery Platform.
