Modern IT Architectures: Moving Beyond Network Visibility
There is a lot at stake when you migrate from on-premises networks to the cloud. Dealing with multiple cloud providers makes it difficult to identify security threats and performance bottlenecks and troubleshoot issues. Moreover, enterprises and service providers must contend with an increasingly dangerous threat landscape.
Omdia’s Network Monitoring Market Report discusses how visibility fabrics and deep observability pipelines are foundational to ensuring consistent and pervasive visibility across the entire hybrid environment and need to be considered early into the cloud migration process.
“This report confirms Gigamon capabilities as essential for any modern hybrid architecture, in which increased cloud migration, strong security posture, and improving efficiency with network and security tool costs must be simultaneously realized,” says Darshan Shah, Director of Product Marketing at Gigamon.
Leveraging Network Packet-Level Visibility
In this report, Omdia explains that suppliers are seeing strong demand from customers to leverage network packet-level visibility for various cloud use cases, including:
- Accelerating and managing the risks of cloud workload migration
- Extending on-premises-level security and compliance to the cloud
- Reducing cloud complexity and costs
- Aggregating and transforming all data in motion (from network packets to applications) for better monitoring, especially in hybrid cloud environments
Enabling Visibility and Security in a Hybrid Cloud World
Omdia’s report highlights how organizations that leverage visibility fabrics can dramatically reduce the amount of traffic being sent to their security and performance tools, thereby reducing network monitoring costs.
For service providers, the report further suggests investing in network monitoring to support 5G rollouts. With enhanced visibility into the packet core of mobile networks, operators can better leverage their existing monitoring solutions and improve the quality of experience of their customers.
The ideal vendor, according to the report, will have evolved their solutions beyond just basic packet capture and filtering. Their solutions must be able to aggregate and transform all data in motion for better monitoring, especially in hybrid cloud environments. Solutions for the 5G market must also support encryption and CUPS.
“Visibility fabrics are foundational to ensuring consistent and pervasive visibility across the entire hybrid environment and need to be considered early in the cloud migration process.”
