Gigamon: Who is Prescient Solutions and what is the company’s history?
Peter: Prescient Solutions is a cybersecurity engineering company that was founded in Canberra in 2022. We’re 100 percent Australian owned and operated. After their longtime employer was acquired, four colleagues noticed a skills gap in the market around cybersecurity and digital transformation. Recognizing an opportunity, they founded Prescient Solutions. Our company specializes in high-caliber engineering professional services like cloud security, risk and compliance reviews, and design, architecture, and integration, to name a few.
Gigamon: What does your company name stand for?
Peter: Prescient Solutions’ mission is to engineer and deliver innovative IT solutions with a commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility while fostering a supportive and healthy work culture that prioritizes the well-being of our employees.
The business has been designed from the ground up for agility and flexibility to meet our client’s rapidly evolving requirements. Our measurement of success centers on providing proactive, reliable, and innovative IT support and services, aiming to align technology with business goals to drive gains in security and performance.
Gigamon: Describe your company culture. What makes you tick?
Peter: We are a people and services focused company driven by a desire to exceed the expectations of our customers based on our vision to build a team of highly skilled, solution-focused problem-solvers. Gigamon: When and how did you become a Gigamon Partner?
Peter: Prescient Solutions partnered with Gigamon in 2022. Our partnership is foundational as a central capability to maturing our customers’ security transformation.

Peter: Transformation.

Gigamon: Where do you see the trends in network security and visibility in three years’ time?
Peter: The security threats organizations face will continue to escalate with increasingly sophisticated attacks enabled by AI. Deep observability is an important response for security enhancement to disrupt the attack chain. Greater visibility is a core delivery to achieving a more proactive security posture for improved detections to reduce critical reaction times.
Gigamon: What’s an anecdote that customers share when they talk about our joint solution?
Peter: In major incidents, it becomes very apparent that Gigamon provides the source of truth. A customer was experiencing intermittent outages in their email functions, with severe impacts to customer services. Their email operated over a high-performance international WAN link to backend mail servers, so the email vendor immediately blamed the network.
Through the expertise of our services, using Gigamon visibility and intelligence features, we proved the network innocent and revealed the server that was the real culprit. Resolution efforts were refocused on the true fault, and the root cause was identified as a mail server resource constraint resulting from a recent server change.
Gigamon: What is the most memorable moment associated with Gigamon as a partner?
Peter: Gigamon recognizing Prescient Solutions as the outstanding partner in Australia and presenting Prescient Solutions with the Gigamon Support Services Partner of the Year 2023 award.
Gigamon: What are the wow moments associated with Gigamon?
Peter: The simplicity Gigamon delivers from the power of traffic visibility and intelligence to diagnose issues. The tangible benefits of this light-bulb moment are just as important for clients today as they were for me in the beginning.
The causes of mysterious and unknown events suddenly become apparent when Gigamon enables access to and knowledge of the sources. The acrimony of guessing games and finger-pointing is suddenly transformed with informed decisions that realize the causes of security and performance incidents.
Gigamon: What are some of the new challenges you see in the market that your partnership with Gigamon can solve?
Peter: The increasing demand for real-time security intelligence under limited budgets will require solutions to be smarter in concept. AI will be key to both attack and defense mechanisms, with success tied to being at the forefront of developing this capability. Detection of lateral movement will be key to security at speed and effective mitigation.
